Restoration: Air Jordan 2 White/Black/Red 2004 RETRO CLEANING

This shoe is classic and can easily be found out of the first 14 pairs of Jordans in the used pre-owned category for less than $100 on Ebay. I am restoring the Air Jordan 2 White/Black/Red 2004 retro.

Air Jordan 2 Black/White/Red  shoe Contents...
-White leather on most of the shoe
-White tumble leather siding

The problems with these shoes are as listed:
-Cracking paint at the top of the toe box.
-Yellowing of white sole
-Dirt on little parts of shoes and folding on toe box from walking.
-The Jordan 2 are most likely susceptible to creasing.

Tools needed:
-Acetone/Or nail polish remover (user very little acetone as possible)
-Dish washing liquid/detergent/ or some kind of liquid soap
-Small paint brush
-Duct tape
-Iron
-2 oz. CREATEX Opaque white Paint (mines will be white because the color I am repairing is white)
-Sponge with a brillow pad like side (rough sand paper like side)
-Towel

Basic Steps:
1. Wash shoes with liquid soap/detergent/dish washing liquid first to get normal dirt off.
Note: Use sponge rough side to apply liquid soap and scrub the shoe.

2. Stuff shoes with plastic bags or newspaper until the toe box is pushed out so creases are not as visible.

3. Let shoes dry.

4. Iron out the creases.
Note: This is where the second step comes in to play. With the paper or plastic bags being stuffed in the shoe it should be shoved so far that the creases are un-creasing some. Cover the toe box and areas to be ironed with a towel. Hoover over the creased areas with the iron in a circular motion and periodically check to see if the creases are coming out. (Doing this without a towel will cause burning of the paint off the shoe!)

5. Tape off the areas around the discolored or cracked painting areas to prepare for painting phase.

6. Mix very little acetone/or nail polish remover with paint to thin out the paint so it will not crack.
Note: Apply paint in a soft swiping motion and not in globs when brushing.

7.Use paint to touch up on cracks and discolored colors.

8. After the paint dries you have a new restored shoe!

Createx opaque paint can be bought on Ebay or a fabric store like JOANNS or MICHAELS.
All if not most of these items can be found at Walmart or your local dollar store.
